Tuesday 14th March 2023 was a special day for the members of Cytringan Chapter 4048 when two separate cheque presentations took place. Our first visit was to Cransley Hospice, where we presented a cheque for £200.

Cransley Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care to meet the physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of the patient, their family, and loved ones. During 2019/20, their Bereavement service delivered over 500 sessions, supporting patient families and loved ones at a difficult time. Their Hospice at Home Service made 1,592 home visits. Cransley Hospice needs to increase fundraising from £1.4m to £2m over the next 5 years.

Our second visit was to Kettering Foodbank, where we presented a further cheque for £200.

Jane Calcott said that she was pleased to receive our generous donation and that this would provide immediate help for families in need.

“Kettering Independent Foodbank exists to provide people with food in a time of crisis, our aim is to meet the basic food needs for 3 days, additionally, due to the generosity of our donors, we are often able to supplement this with bakery, frozen, fresh, as well as toiletry and household items. The average value of a Family parcel is £103.73. We also help to identify and resolve the underlying issues that cause food poverty and help to prevent dependence on food banks. The number of meals issued through food parcels in February was 5,868, these benefited 266 Adults and 223 Children.”
