Brethren attending the meeting of Pomfret Lodge No. 360 held at Sheaf Close, Northampton on Thursday the 7th of February 2019 witnessed an outstanding Rededication of the Lodge's Banner by a team of Provincial officers most skilfully led by the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Max Bayes.

As reported previously, Pomfret is the oldest lodge in the Province (click here for more details). The Banner Rededication ceremony was a significant part of the Lodge's bicentennial anniversary celebrations.

The meeting, which was fully attended, was an extremely happy occasion. It followed-on from the Lodge's Installation meeting held in January, which launched a very special year celebrating 200-years since the Lodge's foundation in 1819.

The Brethren attending the ceremony were fascinated to hear the minutes of the Lodge's meeting held on on the 6th February 1919, some 100-years previously,. Many of the names mentioned therein were very familiar.

In addition to the reading of the minutes, the Provincial Grand Chaplain, WBro John Simmons gave a most interesting address on the subject of Wisdom. WBro Mark Chartress, Pomfret's Worshipful Master, represented his Lodge superbly throughout.

The festive board was equally well-attended and enjoyed by all. The Lodge had gone out of its way to prepare special information booklets and placemats documenting and illustrating the Lodge's history.

The next special event to mark Pomfret's bicentenary will be a Progeny Lodge Banner Parade to be held on Thursday the 4th April 2019, when 93 progeny-lodges (lodges descended from Pomfret Lodge) from this Province and elsewhere will be invited to attend the meeting and parade their own banner.

The fact that their are currently 93-lodges in the Masonic Province of Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire is no doubt an omen that this, too, will be a very special meeting!

We very much look forward to reporting on it!
