Whilst initiation ceremonies are not at all unusual, that held at Sheaf Close, Northampton on the evening of Monday the 16th of December 2019 marked an important milestone for St John’s Lodge No. 3972.

Only last year the Lodge was at risk of surrendering its warrant due to dwindling numbers.

Thankfully, a rescue campaign spearheaded by the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Max Bayes, resulted in a significant influx of joining members, which helped the Lodge find its feet once more.

The initiation of Bro John Shultz at Monday's meeting was a wonderful occasion not least of all because Bro John was the Lodge's first candidate for at least 6-years.

John was warmly welcomed into the Lodge by Worshipful Master WBro Michael Long PPJGW.

All things being well, John will be joined by two other candidates who are due to be initiated in the near future.

It is hoped that an application to join the Universities Lodge Scheme will further bolster the Lodge's membership. The fact that "Light Blue" brethren (those who have yet to attain Provincial rank) occupy all the progressive lodge-offices below the rank of Master is most encouraging.

All in all, St John's is back in good shape and looking forward to it’s Centenary in February 2020. It is very much hoped that as many brethren as possible will join in the celebrations; they are sure to receive a warm welcome.

We congratulate Bro John on his initiation and wish him many happy years in the Craft.
