It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of WBro Clive Lane PProvAGDC, LGR to the Grand Lodge Above on the 28th of December 2020.

WBro Clive was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in April 2018. He faced the increasing challenges posed by the disease with perseverance, strength, courage, and the support of his family and friends.

Clive was a Managing Quantity Surveyor by profession.

During his Masonic career, Clive held most of the offices in his lodges but will be most remembered for his ritual and work as ADC.

Clive was initiated into the Dr Oliver Lodge No. 3964 in 1997 and was soon noted for his excellent work on the lodge-floor, in particular his renditions of the First and Second Degree tracing boards.

Clive became WM of the Lodge in 2011 and was appointed an active Provincial Grand Steward on leaving the chair. Clive was also a Past Master of the Domatic Lodge No. 177 in London and held London Grand Rank.

In 2012, Clive joined the Norman Rolfe Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1643 becoming WM in 2019.

One of Clive's greatest affections was for the Ancient and Accepted Rite (Rose Croix). He joined the Good Intent Chapter No. 951 in 2003 and became MWS in 2013. He was promoted to the 30th Degree of the Order in 2016.

Outside of Freemasonry, Clive was a passionate follower of motorsport, in particular Formula One. He never missed watching a Grand Prix albeit even if only on Sky TV.

Clive's other interests included photography and folk-rock music. He even travelled to Canada to attend a concert given by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and was a keen follower of Fairport Convention, his late brother-in-law being an ex-member of both Fairport and Jethro Tull.

Clive was 61-years of age when he was taken from us. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to his wife, Anna, his son, David, his daughter, Kathryn, his mother, Rose, and his sister, Jan.

The expression, 'lived respected and died regretted', exemplifies our feelings about Clive. He was a genuinely nice bloke who will be sorely missed by all his brethren and friends.

The funeral will take place in Peterborough on the 19th of January 2021 at 1.30 pm.

Please do not visit the crematorium on the day - Clive would not want anyone to put themselves at risk and the funeral is limited to 20-guests only.

We hope to have a celebration of Clive's life when it is safe to do so.
