At the Installation meeting of Thomas Deacon Lodge No. 9126 held on Friday the 5th of November 2021, a very pleasant surprise awaited WBro Wilf Rodwell PPSGW CoM.

The newly installed Master, WBro Simon Biggs, presented WBro Wilf with a decanter marking his unstinting service to the Lodge since becoming its founding Senior Deacon in 1984.

WBro Wilf, who was awarded the Provincial Grand Master’s Certificate of Merit (CoM) in 2009 (link), has held office in the Lodge almost continually since its inception.

He has served as Master of the Lodge twice: once in 1987 and again in 2007. In 1989, he became Assistant Director of Ceremonies, a role he performed until his appointment as Director of Ceremonies in 1994.

After serving as DC till 1997, Wilf reprised that role again in 2009, staying in office till the Installation meeting in November 2021.

The newly installed Master, WBro Simon Biggs, paid tribute to WBro Wilf, both as a founder member, and as someone who had done so much for the Lodge by continuing in the very active, demanding, and important role of DC until well after his 90th birthday. Many lesser mortals would have laid-up their wands well before then!

We are in awe of Wilf’s achievements and thank him for all he has contributed to Freemasonry over the years. We wish him many more happy years in the Craft.
