The Craft Freemasonry Lodge is the basis of all regular Freemasonry (that is Freemasonry recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England). To become a Mason, every man must therefore initially join such a Lodge.
Beyond Craft Freemasonry there are numerous other Masonic orders (sometimes known as side degrees) Master Masons may wish to join. Each of these has its own unique history, regalia and ceremonies.
The relationship between some of these Orders is shown here. Those shown in red are Christian Orders albeit there is no longer any requirement to profess Christianity before joining Rose Croix (click here for the Northants & Hunts Rose Croix website).
