MEGS Seasonal Musings
2020 & 22 | 2021 | 2023 |
Dear Companions,
As the years roll by, the lapses between annual events seem to get shorter and shorter and not even Einstein's Theory of General Relativity can explain that particular phenomena. Yet here we are, fast approaching another Christmas and New Year, which, as I have repeatedly said, is a time for reflection and renewal. On a personal note it is a particularly poignant moment for me this year as this will be my last Christmas message as your Grand Superintendent.
The last seven years have certainly been interesting and are, perhaps, summed up in my Christmas address of 2022 and I quote,
“My seasonal musings of 2018 and 2019 were full of optimism for the continued growth and vibrancy of the Royal Arch, born from the energy and commitment of the Companions of this fine Province. 2020 and 2021 seasonal musings were of a very different nature as we struggled to cope with the pandemic and its' aftermath. Yet throughout this terrible period I never lost faith in the resilience and commitment of the Companions throughout the Province. I will ever remain grateful to all those who worked tirelessly throughout this difficult period to endeavour to maintain the spirit of true companionship synonymous with the Province of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire.”
It is that spirit which has made the last seven years a truly joyous time in my life and I again thank all those who have worked tirelessly in the background driving this Province forward. However, life goes on and the time is now right for a hand-over of the reins knowing full well that that spirit of companionship and support given to me will continue to be given to my successor E.Comp. Mark Constant.
2023 and 2024 saw great strides toward achieving the 1st Grand Principals Membership Challenge and therein lie the seeds of a New Years resolution and target for 2025, to continue that excellent work in bringing the joy of the complete journey that is Pure Antient Masonry to all Brethren.
Companions, I wish you all a peaceful and joyous Festive Season and look forward to meeting with you again at some point in the future.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Jim
