On Saturday the 19th of October 2019, a Provincial team led by the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Max Bayes, conducted a magnificent ceremony to consecrate Lock, Stock and Barrel Lodge No. 9984, the Province's 94th lodge, which aims to bring together those with a special interest in shooting and country pursuits.

The PGM, RWBro Max Bayes, was assisted by many of his Provincial officers

During the ceremony, which took place within a packed lodge room at Sheaf Close, Northampton, the Provincial Grand Chaplain, WBro Rev John Simmons, gave a most thought-provoking oration on the 'Nature and Principles of the Institution', which included his thoughts on the renewed relevance and importance of the virtues of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth in our time.

The ceremony was very well orchestrated throughout by the Provincial secretariat and the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, WBro Dale Gilbert, together with his team of Provincial Deputy and Assistant DCs.

The occasion was further enhanced by the music of the Provincial Grand Organist, WBro Chris Winfield, who together with the members of Pro Musica Lodge No 9547 formed a choir directed by WBro William Wright PAGDC, which helped to create a wonderful atmosphere.

Once the Consecration ceremony had concluded, the first Installation meeting of the Lodge was led by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VWBro Charles Bennett PGSwdB, who installed the Master Designate, WBro David Burton PSGD PAPGM, in fine style as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year.

The new Worshipful Master then appointed and invested his officers in a manner that left no doubt as to why he is so well-respected throughout the Province.

WBro Albert Bareham PProvJGD and WBro Mick Smith PPJGD were appointed as Senior Warden and Junior Warden respectively whilst over thirty founder members looked-on and provided fantastic support.

Notice was given of at least another six members who were set to join the lodge at the next regular meeting!

All in all it was a fantastic display that exemplified all that is good about Freemasonry in our much-loved Province. All those who attended were very proud indeed.

Following the labour in the lodge room, the Brethren enjoyed a warm and convivial festive board.

We have no doubt that Lock, Stock and Barrel Lodge No. 9984 will continue to grow from strength to strength, and we wish its members very many happy years to come.
