The latest meeting of the Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire Branch of the Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC) took place at Browns Farm Fishery on 15th June 2023 and was a great success with large numbers attending and excellent weather.
The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people with special needs.
Between three and five events are organised and funded by the N&H branch each year, with volunteers giving their time freely to entertain, feed and hopefully lend their expertise on how to fish.
This is far more than just a days fishing - it enables those attending to gain in confidence, meet new challenges, achieve tangible results and above all, have fun!
Expert, friendly tuition introducing new skills!
WBro Philip Miles, Provincial Senior Grand Warden, photographed above with Bro David Linger, Chairman of the Northampton & Huntingdon branch of the MTSFC, summed up the day;
'Thank you very much for the opportunity to come and represent our Province at your MTSFC event today. As you probably guessed I had a fabulous time!
The pure joy and excitement on the faces of the children taking part when they caught a fish, many for the first time, and then receiving their certificates and medals was a real pleasure to see.
Well done to all of you involved for organising events like this. I heard from their teachers how much of a difference it can make to their communication skills just by interacting with your helpers, talking to them and being shown what to do. Brilliant! '
