Compared to the epic voyages of the great Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, mine has been a mere splash in the ocean! But my Masonic Portuguese odyssey has certainly been a pleasurable and often exciting voyage of discovery. Which is why I now recommend it to you.
The Lodge of the Oldest Ally meets just twice per year. Once in our Province and again in Portugal. The membership consists of 50/50 British and Portuguese brethren.
Portugal is indeed Britain’s oldest ally – the Anglo –Portuguese treaty dates 1373 and is the oldest alliance in the world that is still in force today.
The next meeting is being held on the Algarve at the Hilton Hotel in Vilamoura , Saturday 7th October 2023.
Do join us at this unique Lodge. Most Brethren and their guests have booked a week’s package with the tour operator TUI staying at the hotel which includes flights and transfers and can work out very economical.
Personally I like to drive. The month of October in the Iberian sunshine always sounds good to me !
