The Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Mark Constant has been pleased to confirm WBro John Napper as the new Local Communications Officer (LCO) for the Huntingdon Group of Lodges.
John replaces WBro Simon Perry, who was thanked for his service in this role over several years.
Following in his fathers' and grandfathers’ footsteps into Masonry, as teenager Johns' first connections with St Ivo Lodge were peeling potatoes for the Lodge of Instruction Festival.
Initiation into St Ivo Lodge 2684 soon followed in December 1981, before finally Installed as WM in 2016. Appointed Chaplain in 2019 and elected Secretary of St Ives Masonic Hall 2021, John received a First Appointment to Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2022, traveling extensively throughout the Province.
Exalted into St Ivo Chapter in 2008 he progressed through all the offices, becoming MEZ in 2019 and Scribe E the following year, John was appointed as Provincial Grand Membership Officer in 2023 and Huntingdon Group Lead Ambassador.
John went on to join both Lodge of Installed Masters and Chapter of First Principals, In addition to being Membership Officer for the Meridian Lodge 9542, the Huntingdon Group daytime Lodge, he is also a member of St Ivo Mark Lodge and David Earl of Huntingdon Rose Croix Chapter.
Born and raised near St Ives, John completed a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship before joining Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1978 and moving to Peterborough, where he served with great pride and distinction within Training, Traffic and Control Room and other specialist units for thirty years, gaining an Open University Diploma on the journey. Utilising that experience, on retirement he took a coordination and enforcement role with Cambridgeshire County Council Highways, responsible for training new Inspectors. Over forty-four years’ continuous public service to the residents of Cambridgeshire.
Returning to St Ives with his two daughters following the death of his father, as a Lewis, he now cares for his 94-year-old mother between attending to numerous masonic activities.
