The 2026 Provincial Lecture Competition Final was held on Monday 19th January at the Corby Masonic Complex, hosted by the Richard Sandbach Lodge of Research No. 9600. The evening proved to be a superb showcase of Masonic learning, research and presentation; attracting strong support from Brethren across the Province.
All lectures delivered on the night were of an exceptionally high standard, making for a closely contested and thoroughly engaging competition. Each finalist demonstrated not only depth of research, but also skill in delivery and a clear passion for their subject, ensuring the judges were faced with a challenging decision.
The competition was ultimately won by W Bro Dr Albin Wallace, whose lecture on Medieval Mystery Plays stood out in a field of outstanding presentations. Dr Wallace was presented with a quaich by the Provincial Grand Master in recognition of his achievement and as a symbol fellowship with the Richard Sandbach Lodge.
As winner of the competition, W Bro Wallace will now go on to present his lecture to the Lodge of Installed Masters No. 3422 in June, a well-deserved honour following an excellent performance.
The evening concluded in warm fellowship, with many Brethren commenting on the quality of the lectures and the continued strength of Masonic education within the Province. The evening was perfectly concluded with a Burns Night themed Festive Board, featuring a stirring Address to the Haggis by Alex Thomson, piping by Alisdair MacDonald, and excellent support throughout the evening from Andy Mackie.
