It is with great sadness that we announce that WBro Paul Slater PPGSwdB passed to the Grand Lodge Above on the 7th May 2026 in hospital at Leicester at the age of 67 surrounded by his family and is now at peace.
Paul had fought so bravely in a battle for his health since being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in January 2025, going through frequent periods in hospital and many difficult treatments, but always with his wife Liz at his side providing her devoted support.
WBro Paul was a very active Freemason having been initiated into the Lodge of Perseverance No 455 in 1996, was passed and raised during the same year, before being exalted into Perseverance Chapter in 1997.
He then occupied all the progressive offices in the Lodge, before serving as Worshipful Master in 2008.
Paul then went on to be appointed as Assistant Director of Ceremonies from 2011 to 2016, then as Director of Ceremonies 2016 to 2019, before a second period a Assistant DC from 2020 to 2022, a total of over 10 years in Lodge DC roles, all served with great skill and distinction.
In 2014, WBro Paul was recognised with his first Provincial appointment to Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, which was soon followed in 2016 by a further active appointment to Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, an office he held for 4 years to 2020.
He was delighted to have been made an Honorary member of Lock Stock and Barrel Lodge No 9984, having assisted at its Consecration in 2019.

Requiescat In Pace
Paul, who was a Para Legal by profession and had been a keen sportsman, is survived by his wife Liz, daughter Harriet, son in-law Ashley and grandchildren Lily and James.
He showed great commitment in everything he did, living respected by all who knew him and very much died regretted.
FUNERAL DETAILS
The funeral will take place on Thursday 11th June 2026 at 10.30am at Geddington Church,
followed by Kettering Crematorium.
