On Saturday 28th January 2023, the Provinces of Northamptonshire & Huntingdonshire and Leicestershire & Rutland were invited to attend the launch of a new initiative to support RMBI’s Devonshire Court in Oadby.
In attendance were; The Provincial Grand Master of Northants & Hunts, RWBro Mark Constant supported by his Deputy Provincial Grand Almoner WBro Greg Warman and a number of lodge almoners from the Province. The Provincial Grand Master of Leicester & Rutland, RWBro Peter Kinder supported by his Provincial Grand Almoner WBro David Highton also along with a number of lodge almoners from their Province.
Juliet O’Connor of Devonshire Court gave an impassioned talk about the home, its residents and facilities followed by a full tour of the home. Those attending were invited to join in a number of activities with the residents along the way. Juliet outlined the new initiative to encourage Lodges or Freemasons & their Families from both provinces to “Give Time” to Devonshire Court in whatever form they can.
These could be:
- Providing entertainment interludes if you are a singer, musician, magician or gifted with other entertainment abilities;
- Giving talks on holidays e.g. travels and photos from home and the more far flung destinations;
- May be facilitating a baking, chocolate making, birthday card making or other crafting session;
- Being good with computers, perhaps giving a basic computer skills session to help those who would like to use the technology better for things like keeping in touch with friends and family;
- Even talks about your professional life which are often of interest to residents.

The Provincial Grand Master RWBro Mark Constant later tweeted what an enjoyable and uplifting morning everyone had been treated to by the positive and dedicated team at Devonshire Court.
