WM, WBro. Simon Craggs preparing for his challenge!

After a review of what Brethren had discovered in the First Degree, the WM, W Bro Simon Craggs, opened in the Second Degree,
W Bro Mike continued the discussion and the Antient Charges and Regulations, assisted by members of the Lodge, were read in full acknowledging the Tercentenary of their first publication in 1723 and provide many talking points.

However, there was a further highlight still to come at the festive board when WM Simon attempted a charity raising “Brussel Sprout Challenge” !
A sponsored sweepstake had been arranged with brethren predicting the total amount of Brussel Sprouts the “Brussel Full Master” could consume during the entire festive board.
As you will see Group Officer WBro Tim Lucy very kindly offered to adjudicate in order to confirm the total and announce a winner!

There were very high expectations, and the brethren were not sure if, in the end, nerves or a full stomach got the better of him, however Simon managed to consume 113 brussel sprouts in the one sitting! This meant the winning prediction went to WBro Peter Chown of Cytringan Lodge 4048.
The contest raised £350 toward the 2024 Festival with a separate raffle held on the evening raising a further £165 for Teddies for Loving Care. Local “Teddy Boy” WBro Gareth Ogden gratefully received the donation on the evening.
The Sprout theme continued with the raffle with WBro Chris Winfield taking what most considered to be the ‘star prize’ of the raffle, a bag of brussels!!
