Visitors and members alike were treated to a genuinely amazing night of Free Masonry, Fellowship and Festive Board Entertainment. Thistle & Rose conducted a rarely seen Double Second-Degree Ceremony for Brothers Lewis & Benjamin Aitken. Huge respect must go to the Deacons Bro Malcolm Pearce & Bro Philip Mason who had obviously spent a lot of time to ensure they conducted two candidates at the same time with care, consideration and accuracy. Not content with just escorting the candidates, Bro Philip Mason also presented a perfect explanation of the Second-Degree Tracing Board.
The Festive Board continued to “Wow” with WBro Scott Morton Piping & Presenting the Haggis, ably assisted by WBro Andy Mackie. WBro Scott showed more of his musical prowess along with WBro Ian Stark of Willowbrook Lodge picking up guitars and entertaining the brethren with a number or Robbie Burns Songs. Even the Assistant Provincial Grand Master joined in the singing as can be seen.
WBro Alex Thomson gave a dramatic and moving, candle lit rendition of Robbie Burns’s “Holy Willies Prayer” WBro Alex Henderson also delivered “The Immortal Memory” a tribute to Robbie Burns, a brief history of his life and how the Burns Suppers began in 1801.
In his response the APGM WBro Mike Casement-Jones departed from his usual notes completely, visibly moved by the quality of the evening and entertainment put on by Thistle & Rose and its members.
An evening of Masonry at its finest…
