The inaugural 2024 event for the Northants & Hunts Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC) took place on May 9th 2024 at the picturesque Elinor Trout Fishery near Aldwincle, Northamptonshire.
Twenty-one children participated in this event, which was supported by members from various Masonic provinces as well as non-Masonic individuals, all united by the charity's mission to provide an interactive fishing and countryside experience for people with special needs. Despite the fishing conditions not being ideal, everyone had a wonderful time, marked by plenty of smiles. The branch was honoured by the visit of WBro Francis Margot Assistant Provincial Grand Master (APGM). Funding for the charity comes from voluntary donations from Freemasons, Masonic Lodges, and events organized by Freemasons. While the charity is a masonic Initiative, the majority of its volunteers are not Freemasons, therefore volunteering is open to all, regardless of Masonic affiliation.
The next event is at Browns Farm Lake Great Addington on 13th June.
Northants & Hunts Chairman and Regional Coordinator David Linger has recently been appointed as the Deputy CEO of the main MTSFC Charity. David commented that he has been running and supporting MTSFC events for over ten years. During that time, he has seen how significant Freemasonry is within the community and what a big difference it makes. The support from the province and our amazing volunteers is magnificent; without them, we simply could not hold these great events. As the Deputy CEO, I will continue to build on the amazing work of my predecessors, the trustees, and the founders.
