Rushden Lady Associate Members (LAMs) were delighted to welcome Provincial Grand Charity secretary Dr Kevin Williams to their Charity Coffee Morning and invited him to present their cheque for £3000 to Karen Hughes of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service.
Karen was delighted to receive it and gave a very informative talk on the workings of the WNAAS, highlighting the personnel who operated the service, the costs incurred and the fact that it relied on donations, such as Rushden LAMs, as no government aid is given.
Dr Williams told the ladies how the PGC worked and spoke about the recent 2024 MCF Festival. He explained how money that was donated to Festival appeals invariably came back to the Province in the form of grants for the needy and for local charities.
In thanking Dr Williams, Chairman Valerie Brierley said that the ladies were most grateful for the enhancement to their fund raising efforts.
The main objective of the LAMs is to arrange social activities for its members and through this raise funds towards projects that improve the Masonic Halls where they meet. A proportion of the monies raised may be donated to outside charities and deserving causes and each year the members are invited to nominate a particular charity.
