Presentation of Diamond Jubilee Certificate

At the December meeting of Petriburg Lodge No. 8767, Worshipful Brother George Martin, Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden (PPJGW), was honoured for his remarkable sixty years of commitment to Freemasonry. In recognition of this extraordinary milestone, the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Mark Constant, presented him with his Diamond Jubilee Certificate.

Worshipful Brother David Burton, Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master, delivered a concise history of W. Brother George Martin’s distinguished journey within Freemasonry, highlighting the significance of his contributions over the years. Having been near neighbours for over 50 years, adding some more personal anecdotes of their time together.

W. Brother George Martin was initiated into St. Peters Lodge No. 442 by his uncle, on 10th December 1964. His dedication to the Craft led him to become a Founder Member of Petriburg Lodge in April 1977, where he served as Senior Steward at the inaugural meeting. Progressing steadily through the various offices, he became Worshipful Master in 1984. It was during his tenure as Worshipful Master that he proposed and initiated W. Brother David Burton into Petriburg Lodge, on 14th December 1984.

W. Brother Martin’s Masonic journey also encompasses substantial involvement in Royal Arch Masonry. As an Excellent Companion in Gildenburg Royal Arch Chapter, he held every office, culminating in his appointment as MEZ in 1995. In February 1996, he also proposed and exalted Excellent Companion David Burton into the Chapter.

W. Brother George Martin’s career spans sixty years of Craft Masonry, including being a founding member of Petriburg Lodge, and forty years devoted to Royal Arch Masonry. His unwavering dedication and distinguished service are celebrated with the awarding of his Diamond Jubilee Certificate.
